Blessed to be a Blessing: A Good Measure
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back. ~ Luke 6:38
This quote from Jesus can sound really intimidating, or it can sound very exciting.
It's intimidating when we see it as providing punishment for not being generous enough. Not giving enough.
But it is exciting when we realize that we also are meant to receiving a "good measure." It isn't just about giving.
It's also about receiving.
And haven't you seen this to be true?
Haven't you felt the rewards of generosity at some point in your life? Where what you gave came back to you in some form of love?
Maybe it was as simple as warming your heart. Maybe it created a new relationship or a new understanding about someone or something.
But this is what blessed to be a blessing is all about. Blessings by nature reciprocate.
They aren't held back.
They are meant to be running over, overflowing. Shared.

Lord, help me to take the many blessings I have from you and share them with others for the ongoing blessing of your entire creation. Amen
