Forgiveness as Love

For the season of Lent I'll be sharing devotions from Grace Lutheran's devotional book: "Forgiven."

While these devotions are not my words and may not represent my own faith or theological understanding, they are valuable personal faith perspectives of 40 of Grace's members and I am so grateful for their generosity in sharing them.

Part One: Forgiveness & Wholeness

Proverbs 17:9 (forgiveness as love)

"One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend."

Forgiveness is a concept we understand.  It is harder often times to turn that concept into a reality.  When we feel that we have been wronged; we need to resist the “eye for an eye” response urge.

On Sundays we confess our sins and pray to God for forgiveness.  Let us truly be as one made in God’s image and forgive others.  It will not be long before we will need the favor returned in kind.

As it is stated in Ecclesiastes Chapter 4 verse 9 - Two are better than one for if they fall one will lift up the other; but woe is one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help.

Prayer:
So, pray hard for great compassion to lead to God’s clarity.  Forgiveness and love will follow.
Amen
