Healing in Forgiveness

For the season of Lent I'll be sharing devotions from Grace Lutheran's devotional book: "Forgiven."

While these devotions are not my words and may not represent my own faith or theological understanding, they are valuable personal faith perspectives of 40 of Grace's members and I am so grateful for their generosity in sharing them.

Part One: Forgiveness & Wholeness

James 5:13-16 (healing in forgiveness)

Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective.

When we pray for forgiveness and healing we are asking that the Lord will forgive all our sins and restore us to wholeness. That could mean that the Lord may heal our physical bodies but more importantly, He will bestow spiritual wellness/wholeness to each of us. As members of Grace we should pray and ask the Holy Spirit to be present with each other in both good and difficult times. Give Praise to the Lord for His goodness and His healing. God Is Good, All the Time.

Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Please walk closely with each of our congregation members during this season of Lent. Forgive their sins and Restore Spiritual Wholeness to them. In Jesus Name,
Amen

~ Connie
