Confession of Sins


For the season of Lent I'll be sharing devotions from Grace Lutheran's devotional book: "Forgiven." 

While these devotions are not my words and may not represent my own faith or theological understanding, they are valuable personal faith perspectives of 40 of Grace's members and I am so grateful for their generosity in sharing them.

Part Five: All Can Be Forgiven

1 John 1:8-9 (confession of sins)

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

All can be forgiven. As weak sinners, by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we can ask for forgiveness of our sins. Deep within our souls, we can live the life of His truth, praying for forgiveness of our sins, and we are forgiven.

My Prayer:
 Lord God, you are most forgiving of my sins. Thank you for your compassion,  forgiveness,  and love. Amen

Transformed through Courage: Esther

Then Esther spoke to Hathach and gave him a message for Mordecai, saying,  “All the king’s servants and the people of the king’s provinces know that if any man or woman goes to the king inside the inner court without being called, there is but one law—all alike are to be put to death. Only if the king holds out the golden scepter to someone, may that person live. Teachings of Jesus in Luke: Living Forgiveness

Then turning toward the woman, he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has bathed my feet with her tears and dried them with her hair.  You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not stopped kissing my feet.  You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.  Therefore, I tell you, her sins, which were many, have been forgiven; hence she has shown great love. But the one to whom little is forgiven, loves little.” ~ Luke 7:44-47 He who risks and fails can be forgiven.
