God's Forgiveness of Unfaithfulness

For the season of Lent I'll be sharing devotions from Grace Lutheran's devotional book: "Forgiven."

While these devotions are not my words and may not represent my own faith or theological understanding, they are valuable personal faith perspectives of 40 of Grace's members and I am so grateful for their generosity in sharing them.

Part Five: All Can Be Forgiven

Hosea 2:16-20 (God’s forgiveness of unfaithfulness)

On that day, says the Lord, you will call me, “My husband,” and no longer will you call me, “My Baal.” For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, and they shall be mentioned by name no more. I will make for you a covenant on that day with the wild animals, the birds of the air, and the creeping things of the ground; and I will abolish the bow, the sword, and war from the land; and I will make you lie down in safety. And I will take you for my wife forever; I will take you for my wife in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love, and in mercy. I will take you for my wife in faithfulness; and you shall know the Lord.

The message I heard from Hosea 2:16-20 was that we are ALWAYS forgiven! We, as human beings will continually make mistakes. Most of us try to be the best version of ourselves, but unfortunately we seem to always fall short. This said, we must realize we are not perfect! God knows we are not perfect, He continues to forgive us time and time again, no matter the circumstance. God will ALWAYS be there for us through His Word (The Bible), and many times through someone else! We need to open our eyes and our hearts and receive this priceless gift! We must continue to try to be the best version of ourselves and remember that God is ALWAYS with us, and will forgive us… no matter what!

Prayer:
Dear Lord!
Please help us to remember that God loves us unconditionally, even when we fall short of being the best version of ourselves. Help us to be more like you, full of love and forgiveness toward ourselves and others. Help us to follow your path using your Word!
In Jesus Christ,

Amen!
